Thoroughly enjoyed this book..written by a father with honesty and emotion and a heartfelt love forhis daughter and a desire that she learn from his experience and past mistakes. Not sure what the
former reviewer was talking about. Mine was written on paper! And personally, I don't think we could
have a better "rule" book than the one written 2500 years ago...not by controlling old men, but by the
very God that created us and loves us. Maybe he could share his review with 'God' when he stands
before him.

...it's a tired view not worth the paper it's written on (and it's not even written on paper).
The author was raised in the so-called 'exclusive' Tunbridge Wells sect of the Plymouth Brethren cult, a 'religious' group almost permanently at war with itself! He's trying to apply literal biblical texts to modern, totally personal situations but succeeds only in perpetuating sexism, rules of inequality, anti-divorce (read anti-happiness) and homophobic dogmas. Essential freedoms, only recently fought for and won by women, are removed by his imposing biblical texts, only relevant to the time they were written, on to the submissive women of the time.
This is a biblical rant against libertarianism, using 'God' as the 'word', forgetting that men with highly politicised agendas originally wrote the words of 'God' in the bible 2500 years ago. When he writes 'Parents have the privilege to raise these unique individuals made in the image of God' he conveniently forgets that God was made in the image of man by men and not the other way round.
Religious dogma and bigotry is the cause of much misery in the world as I write this, and it is all acted out in the name of Allah or God. There is something profoundly wrong in being subjugated by such creeds and belief systems at a time when we have the individual power, technology and scientific know how, intelligence, freedom and good will to decide for ourselves what is good and reasonable for ourselves, our families and the communities in which we live without having a 2,500 year old rule book imposed upon us by someone raised in a warring religious sect.
Such biblical texts as 'For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior.' (Ephesians 523) really are SO irrelevant now as to be offensive to most thinking people.
Go forward with your personal lives in a way that makes you happy and contended, and not because a 2,500 year old rule book written by controlling old men intended to unify wandering tribes in the Middle East dictated to you how to lead your life in the apparent name of 'God'!
Disregard this book! We have here yet another man trying to say what's good for his daughters (and wife)...all in the name of 'God'!
